Essential Functions

Responds to call lights and promptly relays information to the appropriate nursing personnel; acknowledges the presence of staff, physicians and visitors at the nursing station; runs errands to support needs of unit; processes requests and orders during computer downtime; checks unit census and updates condition codes; utilizes a PC to access the Hospital Information System (HIS); utilizes HIS to enter requests for unit maintenance, schedule and coordinate diagnostic procedures, order supplies, enter physician orders accurately and timely, process patient charges, complete patient transfers and discharges, and update patient diets; replenishes chart stationary; serves as receptionist; performs general clerical duties; prepares unit admission packs; monitors patient charts for signed MD orders; adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards; abides by and enforces all hospital policies including those pertaining to confidentiality; utilizes appropriate customer relations skills with physicians, patients, families and healthcare team in person and via telephone; responds to overhead pages; notifies Charge Nurse when leaving unit; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
